Pakistan Cricket Team head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah Haq has lashed out at Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for refusing to play the Two-match Test series in Pakistan.
As quoted by Sportstar.thehindu.com, Misbah Ul Haq said in a media briefing, “I don’t understand their refusal. I don’t see the logic of wanting to come and play T20 matches but not the Test matches. It is very unfair on Pakistan.”
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nazimuddin said that Bangladesh would not play Test cricket in Pakistan, but they were ready to play Three T20Is in the country.
Misbah Ul Haq said,” It will be a huge disappointment for the Pakistani players if Bangladesh doesn’t come in January 2020. I think they are making a lame excuse to not come to Pakistan, and if this happens, it will be a massive injustice to Pakistan. Just when teams are starting to come here and play without any problems, Bangladesh is making lame excuses to avoid us in Tests.”
Pakistan head coach added,” Our cricket has already suffered enough by not getting to play Test cricket, and if Bangladesh doesn’t come, it means the team’s next Test series will be in the summer of 2020 in England. He continued, “Then how can we blame our players if they don’t perform? It is never easy for any player to perform after not playing a format for four to five months at a stretch.”
Misbah looked satisfied over Pakistan’s performance in the Test series against Sri Lanka and said,” It has been a tough three months for my team and me. We have been through difficult times, and that is why this performance is good for us. Especially, when we were bowled out for 191 on the first day to come back like this is pleasing. I thought our two openers played well in the second innings.”
There Is No Excuse, ICC Must Step In: Azhar Ali
Test Skipper Azhar Ali reacted to Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) decision of refusing to visit Pakistan for the Two-match Test series. The Pakistan skipper said,” There’s no excuse. ICC must step in; this is for the World Test Championship. Many teams have come to Pakistan, PSL matches have happened, World XI came, Sri Lanka is going back after 2 Tests, so I don’t understand the reason for Bangladesh not coming.”
