PCB rejects BCB’s proposal of playing one Test in Pakistan and one in Dhaka

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) came with a strange proposal regarding their tour to Pakistan for three T20Is and two Tests the ongoing month. The BCB president said that they were ready to play one Test in Pakistan, provided the second match of ICC Test Championship would take place in Dhaka. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected BCB’s proposal.

One of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials said,” The board has rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) proposal, making it clear that the two Tests are part of Pakistan’s home series and must be played here. Strangely, the BCB wants Pakistan to play a Test in Bangladesh in return.”

Bangladesh is set to tour Pakistan from January 18 to play three T20Is and two Tests, but the tour is still uncertain because the BCB officials said that they would only play T20Is in Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) firstly requested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to host the Test series at a neutral venue, but the PCB rejected the idea straightaway.

After successfully hosting Sri Lanka for a full series, including two Tests, Pakistan has decided not to host any of its home series at the neutral venue.

Now the BCB proposed that they could play a one-off test match in Pakistan, provided the second match would be held in Dhaka. The PCB has rubbished the idea and is optimistic about hosting the series in Pakistan.

With the PCB preparing to host a complete edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 across the four cities of Pakistan, it has ruled out hosting the Test matches at a neutral venue.

The PCB official said , “Privately the BCB’s proposal to have one Test in Pakistan and one in Bangladesh has been floated but has been rejected.”
