PCB asks Bangladesh to play Test series now, T20Is later

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play Test series in Pakistan this month and return to the country for the T20I series later.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had made it clear to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that they would visit Pakistan for the T20I series only. The decision on the Test series would be taken after completing the T20Is.

The BCB president Nazmul Hassan told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium,” We asked them to play T20Is, but today they proposed us to play Test matches. They said they would play the T20I bilateral series in Pakistan before the ICC T20 World Cup.”

PCB is more interested in hosting Tests: Bangladesh Cricket Board President

Nazmul said,” We informed them that we wanted to play three T20Is first and return home. We told them that we might tour Pakistan, later on, to play the Tests if we manage to reschedule the tour. But they are more interested in hosting Tests as it is part of the ICC Test Championship. They said they have no problem hosting three T20Is later on.”

Nazmul Hassan said that they were yet to decide on the new proposal by the PCB, and they would make it to final judgment in a day or so.

Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan for three T20Is and two Tests this month. The two-match Test series is part of the ICC Test Championship.

Earlier, Pakistan successfully hosted Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series after ten years. Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear that they wouldn’t host any of their home series at the neutral venue.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had proposed the PCB to host one Test in Pakistan and one in Dhaka, but the PCB rubbished BCB’s proposal. Bangladesh, who is reluctant to tour Pakistan without any substantial reason, will have to lose the 120 points if they don’t come.
