Last time Umar represented Pakistan was in March 2019 against Australia in the five-match ODI series. He was then not considered for England Tour and ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Now he has got the chance to wear the Green Jersy once more to prove his worth and cement his place in this new-look Pakistan side.
Umar Akmal is confident to make a remarkable return to international cricket with some notable performances in domestic cricket.
Umar Akmal, in an interview to a TV channel, said that the Legendary Pakistani leg-spinner and his father-in-law Abdul Qadir (Late) wanted him to make a comeback to the national side soon.

He quoted,” Abdul Qadir wanted me to make a comeback to the national side soon. I am excited and looking forward to performing in front of my home crowd. If I do perform well, I will dedicate this performance to him and my mother.”
This T20I series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, which is Umar’s home ground. 1st Of the three T20Is will be played tonight (October 5).
