Fawad Alam was continuously sidelined after 2015 despite staggering numbers in domestic cricket. The left-handed batsman is set to get another chance to prove his worth against Australia in Two-match test series.
According to the reports, the newly appointed head coach and chief selector Misbah Ul Haq is keen to give chances to the senior players who were neglected by the recent management. In the last T20 series, he gave opportunities to the likes of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal although both of them failed miserably in the series.
Misbah recently contacted Sindh’s head coach Azam Khan. He has inquired about Fawad Alam’s fitness and form. During the ongoing domestic season, Alam has scored 160 runs in 4 matches at an average of 40 with a century to his name.
Fawad Alam’s Performance In Numbers
Fawad Alam, with an excellent first-class record, has represented Pakistan in three test matches so far. The left-handed batsman has scored 256 runs in 6 innings at an average of 41.66 in this format. Alam has alone hundred to his name (168 against Sri Lanka at Colombo).
However, he has managed a staggering record in first-class cricket. Fawad has played 159 first-class matches. In 250 innings, the middle-order batsman has managed to score 11601 runs at an outstanding average of 55.77 with 58 fifties and 31 hundred to his name. With the highest individual score of 296*, he remains one of the top performers in Pakistan’s domestic cricket.
