[su_dropcap style=”simple” size=”5″]A[/su_dropcap]fter making a successful comeback to ODI and Test side, David Warner and Steve Smith storm their way into Team Australia for the T20 series against Pakistan.
Australia today announced a 14-member squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, keeping an eye on the T20 World Cup next year.
Both the star batsmen were banned for one year from all forms of cricket after their involvement in the ball-tampering saga. They made a comeback to the national side earlier this year in ODIs and Tests. Steve Smith looked in the best touch, but David Warner was out of color.
However, both have made a successful comeback to the T20 side, which will take on Sri Lanka and Pakistan later this month.

Australia’s chief selector Trevor Hohns said, “We are happy to welcome Steve Smith and David Warner back into the T20I squad. Steve Smith is a world-class batsman in all three formats, while Warner is Australia’s highest ever runs scorer in T20Is. He was also the leading runs scorer at this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) with Sunrisers.”
Despite the success in ODIs and Tests, Australia has never won a T20 World Cup so far. They made it to the final of the T20 World Cup 2010, and that’s their best performance in this event.
Trevor Hohns said that they selected the squad, keeping an eye on next year’s T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by them (Australia).
In ICC T20I rankings, Australia occupies the fifth position. The hosts are hoping to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Australia will take on Sri Lanka in three-match T20I series starting from October 27, followed by a three-match T20I series against Pakistan.
