PCB is Hopeful To Host Australia in 2022
Pakistan cricket board working hard to revive international cricket in Pakistan. They have convinced Sri Lanka cricket team to play a limited-overs series in Pakistan from September 27 to October 9.
Now they have invited Cricket Australia officials to visit Pakistan for security assessment. Cricket Australia officials, security manager Sean Carroll, and the chief executive Kevin Roberts will arrive in Pakistan on September 17.
Cricket Australia officials will meet chairman Pakistan cricket board (PCB) Ehsan Mani, Managing Director Pakistan cricket board (PCB) Wasim Khan and some government officials on a one-day visit.
The visiting officials will get a security briefing from the concerned authorities about the security arrangements in Pakistan. Pakistan cricket board (PCB) is hoping to host Australia in 2022.
Last time, Australia toured Pakistan was back in 1998. They were the first team to refuse to visit Pakistan over security concerns in 2002.
International cricket was taken away from when terrorists attacked Sri Lanka cricket team’s bus in Lahore in March 2009.
After the unfortunate incident, a very few international teams including Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and ICC World XI have toured Pakistan for short series. Pakistan cricket board (PCB) has hosted some Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Lahore and Karachi. A lot of international stars toured Pakistan during their Pakistan Super League (PSL) stint along with there respective franchises.
Now that Sri Lanka is coming to play three T20Is and three ODIs in Pakistan, and later on Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 will be held entirely held in Pakistan. These little stints can pave the way for international cricket to return to Pakistan.
