Star Pakistan batsman Babar Azam enters the list of Top 10 in Test batting rankings for the first time in his career. The veteran jumped from 13th position to 9th after a fluent hundred against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi Test.
Babar Azam started to rise in Test batsmen rankings from the beginning of 2019. The star batsman has scored runs at an average of 56 with three hundred and eight fifties.
He recently scored a hundred against Australia in Australia. He missed the chance that to score back-to-back hundreds against Australia in their backyard when he was dismissed on 99 in the 2nd Test of the series.
The veteran is currently ranked No.1 and No.2 batsman in T20I and ODI rankings, respectively. Babar Azam and Indian skipper Virat Kohli are the only batsmen to sit in the top 10 batting rankings in all three formats.
Another centurion from the Rawalpindi Test, Abid Ali, started his test career amazingly well. He has jumped to 78th position straightaway.
Young Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne, who was unstoppable in the home series against Pakistan, has moved into the top five batsmen in updated ICC Test Rankings.
In Bowling, Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi reached 47th position while Naseem Shah is sitting at 110th spot. Australia’s Mitch Starc has reached the career-best fifth position in the latest ICC Test Bowling Rankings.
Currently, India are leading the table in ICC Test Championship with 360 points. Australia follows them with 216 points. Pakistan just got 20 points after the Rawalpindi Test ended as a draw.
